I really love the original version of this song. It's an incredible collaboration between brilliant and beautiful artists from 1985. This version, which I also really like, features some incredible artists from our generation(s). However, there is a section where it goes from being sung to being rapped, and I wanted to hear what it would sound like without that section, so I edited the video an...

    I think everyone that rides should take that course. I agree with you. ride and drive in your comfort zone. I understand that weight, and I ride a Sportster for that very reason. 800lbs is a weight i cant get comfortable with.

    Bravo! As someone who recently completed the MSF beginner course this is so true. Of the 9 students who started the course with me only 6 made it to graduation day. One student had a really bad panic attack the 1st day of bike training. I spoke to him and he realized that motorcycling was not for him. I must say the MSF was one of hardest things I have ever done. I really had to honest with myself. Thanks for sharing!

    Wonderful video of self awareness, humility and passion to pursue in some form or another. Congratulations and good luck/experiences on your trike journey. I will say this though - that Harley 500 is not a good beginner motorcycle. A 500cc 500lbs bike is not a good beginner bike. For anyone. I'm surprised more don't quit. Sure it is (was) the smallest that Harley offered and hence that particular model. But still too heavy and powerful. For anyone. The MSF course that many offer (usually thru local schools) will use a smaller Honda, Suzuki (like a TU250: 250cc/300lbs) starter bike, and while you can still feel the weight and power, it is not intimidating at all - a much better option for most beginners without being a moped. So I would recommend this option. All the best.

    Those street 500’s are great little bikes. BUT I feel sometimes a smaller lighter bike can be helpful for beginning for some folks.. I’ve taken classes on the heavier ones and I found the lighter bikes allowed me to concentrate more on learning the controls and basic maneuvers without such concern for the weight… Good on you mate for posting this!👍🏽💯

    @JRico831 Месяц назад

    Idk why beginner Harley’s are so heavy… my zx6 and s1k are both like a hundred pounds lighter, my r3 was even lighter than those two. I feel like you would have had a much better experience on a Yamaha MT or like ninja 300/400 but if the trikes suit you best I hope you enjoy the ride man.

      @Aquablue62 23 дня назад

      I have an r3 and have rode 600s and liters, my only gripe with starting on a sport bike is for beginners it’s harder with slow speed maneuvers because your handle bars are lower, meaning your arms can get caught on the tank when doing a hard turn from a stop. That’s what I struggled with learning at first until I figured out how to correctly position my arm and hand on the throttle. Other than that I think a lighter bike with higher handle bars, maybe like a naked bike, would be more comfortable for him

    I won't take a msc unless I can take it on a scooter. I love the lower center of gravity. I bought a Honda Silver Wing and love it. I'm 68 just getting back into riding. Quality scooters at very cheap and so much fun to just twist and go. No clutch or changing gears.

    Im an MSF instructor, too, and I love it when the high-maintenance students quit! It was less work for me, and I still get paid the same cause no refunds! I wish i could have a day where every student quit before we started the engine. On a serious note if you can ride a pedal bike you can ride a motorcycle and to me it sounds like you were struggling with anxiety more that anything else.

    I have to agree that it's a bit harrowing the first time you're on a motorcycle. The one saving grace, for me, is that I am very comfortable with a manual transmission, and that made it easier to focus on figuring everything else out. My girlfriend, who isn't familiar with driving manual at all, also bowed out after the first day. Several other students bowed out during and after the first day. It's not easy, and it really does take a lot to know when you don't feel safe. All the best in your journey!

    I just finished my MSF course today and passed. I had some anxiety issues while taking the test today. I passed but it was a little rough. I agree with you that if you don't feel comfortable on a bike then absolutely bow out. No shame in that decision at all! There is so much to riding a motorcycle that non riders do not know. Everything you said about the weight and the balancing of a motorcycle is a little shocking to find out. Great that you can do the trike class.

    That was awesome 👍 my friend. You did something I haven't heard or seen,,,when someone admits a little issue about the riding class. It takes a great effort and practice dominating the balance zone. It is critical if you can't find your balance on the bike you own. After 40 yrs , about a month ago, I rode my bike for the first time and I loose my balance when I got off the sidewalk to the pavement, with both feet on the ground. I am practicing to get my endorsement when I feel I can do it. Just from my point of view 😉

    I too dropped out of my MSF course and have no regrets. It was for the opposite reason for me though, it was a total waste of my time. I've since gotten my permit on my own and have learned in the way that works best for me. I dont think its a horrible class or anything, im sure its great for new riders particularly younger ones who dont have decades of driving experience. As for me, I drive a car, ebikes, a moped, my motorcycle, my car towing my trailer with my motorcycle, my car towing my boat, my boat, and all kinds of random crap when i was younger like a bobcat and a backhoe, and my first car was a manual transmission - the list goes on. Im not saying all this to flex, but to put into perspective that not everyone needs the MSF course and may be better off taking a more advanced course. Its not a one size fits all.

    There is nothing wrong with fear. Just don't let it control you. If you and the bike fall over pick it up and get back on. I have fear every time I get on my bike. When the day comes i have no fear it is a time to quit riding.

    As an MSF RC myself, you showed an amazing level of courage and self awareness!! Don't take it hard! Take that as a positive moment in understanding yourself! Our best advice for riders who hit this point is always Today may not be your day, but tomorrow might be! Good luck on the 3W training! Also, having that level of self awareness will make you a much better rider when the time comes. This is also the reason I've pointed new riders to take the course first. It'll tell you very quickly if you're ready or not.
